CEO of Black Opportunity Fund
A people centred leader, and advocate for equity and social justice. Craig Wellington is CEO for Black Opportunity Fund, a community led charity that promotes socio-economic empowerment for Canada’s Black communities. He is currently helping lead transformative initiatives in the areas of health, justice, education, homeownership and entrepreneurship, as part of BOF’s uniquely disruptive model.
Wellington has held leadership positions in not for profit organizations for more than 30 years, and is a tireless champion for social justice and equity. Craig is an accomplished EDI consultant, who has helped organizations in Canada and the U.S. transform their culture.
Wellington co-leads the Justice Pillar for ‘Transforming the Lives of Black Children & Youth,’ a Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) initiative; he is a member of the board of BOF Capital – which is launching 2 multi-million dollar impact investment funds focused on economic empowerment for Black Canadians; is a member of the EDI Advisory Council for the ‘One Child, Every Child’ health research initiative led by U of Calgary; is on the Executive Committee for the Fair Chances Coalition Canada; sits on the Steering Committee of the Black Community Housing Advisory Table (BCHAT); is a board member of Let’s Talk Science; a member of the City of Toronto’s Community Benefits and Social Procurement Program Advisory Body for FIFA World Cup 2026; and a former member of the Toronto Chief of Police’s Black Community Consultative Committee.
Wellington is a 2025 recipient of a King Charles III Coronation Award, and was named to the 2023 Top 100 Canadian Professionals.
