Lenya Wilks

Lenya Wilks is an accomplished leader who is celebrated for her contributions to the music industry and community service. With over eight years of spearheading community initiatives, Lenya has demonstrated exceptional skill in fostering collaboration, driving innovation, and securing impactful outcomes. Originating from Jamaica, she embarked on a significant journey to Canada, pursuing her dual passions for music and community betterment at Brandon University in Manitoba. There, she deepened her musical talents and enriched her academic pursuits with a minor in business administration. Lenya’s musical career has seen her grace international stages, performing alongside legends such as Beres Hammond and Inner Circle. Her 2013 solo album, featuring collaborations with Tarrus Riley, has earned her critical acclaim for its artistic depth. Since moving to Canada in 2015, she has dedicated herself to furthering her musical career while maintaining a solid commitment to community service. In Manitoba, Lenya took on the role of Program Manager for a youth career exploration project, later advancing to a leadership position with the Brandon Local Immigration Partnership. Her journey as a survivor of sexual assault has imbued her with remarkable resilience, making her an inspiring figure in both her musical endeavours and community engagement efforts. 2022 marked a new chapter in Lenya’s career with her move to Surrey, British Columbia. Joining DIVERSEcity, she rapidly ascended to Senior Manager of Surrey LIP and Community Enterprise and has since been appointed the Director of Partnerships and Stakeholder Engagement. In her current role, Lenya leverages her deep commitment to partnership and stakeholder engagement, aiming to transform the organization’s vision into a reality that profoundly impacts the community. Her leadership is defined by compassion and integrity, championing the upliftment of marginalized voices and fostering transformative change.
