Lystra G. Sam

Decolonizing & Trailblazing New Models of Entrepreneurship in the Black Community

Lystra Sam (she/her/they) is a serial entrepreneur and a lifelong learner. She is the architect of “The World When Black” Anti-Racism and Allyship workshops that center on the disruption and dismantling of white supremacy culture in the Travel, Tourism & Hospitality and Wellness industry and beyond. In 2020 she was TOM – Trauma of Money certified and SFU CCB -Community Container Building certified which continued her trauma informed decolonizing education and aligned with her ethos of decolonizing neo- capitalist business models.

Since 2017 she has been taking up space in the travel industry with her business called “Qmooniti Travel & Lifestyle”.

After living and working internationally for a decade and traveling around the world several times she has now visited over 100 countries and considers herself a global citizen.

Lystra’s lived experience heavily informs her decisions in her business that focuses on inclusion and culture with a decolonizing lens while centering Black, Indigenous, People of colour, 2SLGBTQIA+, people with disabilities and the solo female/femme centered traveler as she bridges the gaps in the industry that have been created by myopic, homogenous lenses.

Her team’s specialty for hire is elevated curation which includes decolonizing, trauma informed, people and culture centered, corporate leisure conferences, wellness retreats and/or community gatherings of any size.

She has also integrated decades of intersectional womanist activism and advocacy work and created Sisters Leading Sisters (a community container) which offers tools and resources to Black & Indigenous women/femmes and non-binary femme leaning folks.

Sisters Leading Sisters is grounded in healing within the intersection of communities and is based on the tenet of UBUNTU “I am because you are”. They support leadership, emerging leaders, relationship building, mentoring, and building community that makes space for us all to learn to be the architects of our own business and leadership models and invite everyone to join us there.
